President's MessageMessage from the Incoming CARALL President: Myrna A. Douglas
The past 2 years (2020-2022) were challenging and as an Association we have learned and experienced the difficulties together as a region. One thing is certain, and that is, we strive better together no matter what challenges we face as a region Association. I am profoundly honoured to be the CARALL president for 2022-2024, as we continue to advance the issues and grow as a special regional body of library and information professionals. The upcoming years will be interesting as we emerge from the pandemic years and begin to embrace physical gatherings of social interactions globally. The recent past have altered the future for us as Caribbean law librarians, and we will have recommit ourselves to adjust together with our international stakeholders to facilitate and embrace those new and emerging directions in the delivery of legal information services. Embracing the new issues and trends to engage in continuing education with a view to improving our professional competencies and our agility to reach our clients and stakeholders to deliver excellence will have to continue to take centre stage. Issues of diversity, equity and inclusion will have to be approached in more targeted ways to enable us to continue to build on the past and to achieve our Association’s future strategic objectives. My gratitude is to the founding members of CARALL, the past executives, the current members, our law publishers and other stakeholders, and to the CARALL officers who have and will continue to dedicate their time and effort to making the Association remain strong and responsive to the needs of law library professionals across the Caribbean. Special thank you to the Past Presidents and their executive members who kept CARALL going throughout the pandemic. It is to be noted that the best part of this Association is our historical community of strong, innovative law librarians and support staff, working together with law publishers and vendors and our faithful membership. Every year bring its own set of challenges and I pledge to rally the CARALL Executive, the special committees and membership through the year to meet those challenges with perseverance, agility and innovative solutions. On August 12, 2022, at CARALL 36th Annual General Meeting the membership in a virtual election installed a new Executive Committee to serve for the period 2022-2024: President – Myrna Douglas Vice President – Adrian Duncan Secretary – Janice Jhinkoo Treasurer – Erica Beache We look forward to the 2023 CARALL General Meeting and Conference with great anticipation and excitement! |
