1982 Appointment of Working Party At a meeting of the Commonwealth Caribbean law library officers in October 1982 at the Faculty of Law, Cave Hill, Barbados a working party was appointed charged with the task of drafting a constitution for a Caribbean Law Library Association.
1984 Launch of the Association Five countries were represented at the launch at the Hugh Wooding Law School in May – Barbados, Jamaica, Guyana, Tortola and Trinidad and Tobago
1984 Publication of Journal The first issue of the journal Caribbean Law Librarian was published
1985 Change of Acronym The acronym of the Association was changed from C.A.L.L. to CARALL to avoid being confused with the Canadian Association of Law Libraries
1987 Name Change for Journal The name of the journal was changed to ‘The Caribbean Journal of Legal Information.’
1990 Logo for CARALL Ms. Joan Brathwaite designed the Association’s logo
1996 Publication of Newsletter The first issue of the CARALL newsletter was published
1998 First Workshop The first workshop was held during a General Meeting
2000 CARALL-TALK is born The list serve – CARALL talk – was launched after the CARALL conference
2003 CARALL Web site The CARALL website was started in January
2004 New Librarian Award The New Librarian Award sponsored by Thomson Legal and Regulatory was instituted. The first recipient was Mrs. Dianne Clarke-Ottey, a librarian at Myers, Fletcher and Gordon in Jamaica.
The Butterworths Library Student Internship Programme was begun. The first recipient was Ms. Angela Walker, a student at the Library School in Jamaica and a librarian at Livingston, Alexander and Levy.
2008 CARALL Website Relaunch The website was revamped and renamed Carallonline in an effort to increase awareness of the association and its activities and to encourage networking amongst members.
2015 Our 30th Anniversary The organisation celebrated 30 years of existence.
